Swedish insurance union successful in negotiations
The Swedish insurance union, FTF, has signed a new collective agreement on salaries for 2012, together with the employer organisation for the insurance industry. The agreement was reached after mediators were brought to the table.
According to the agreement, the room for salary increase will be 2.6 % for 2012, which was also what FTF demanded. FTF has during the whole process pointed out that the employees in the insurance sector should have salary increases at the same level as the rest of the work force. Since the employer organisation has been unwilling to listen to that argument, FTF had warned for strike and were
prepared to proceed with it.
- We didn’t have to go to strike, and we got what we initially asked for. Of course, we are very pleased, says Gert-Ove Andréasson, chief negotiation officer at FTF.
